How to destroy your immune system in 5 easy steps

1. Accept the fact that you actually have MS
2. Say yes to your neurologist when she suggests you should seriously think about going into hospital for an amazing new treatment. Soon
3. Realise that when you look at the reasons not to go for the treatment (specifically the side effects including thyroid dysfunction, kidney failure, an annoying itchy rash) you can’t find one that is convincing enough because the chance of being healthy is overwhelmingly exciting
4. Book time off work
5. Buy hospital pyjamas

So I decided to go for it. “The Big One” aka Lemtrada. 5 days of 4 hour infusions in hospital which will wipe out my immune system so that it can (hopefully) reset itself and be more kind to me in the future. Then the rest of the year off to recover. Who knows what I’ll be like come 2016? All I can be sure of is that I will be in my 40s.
